Teacher Development

The TOEFL® GoMentor!™ series of resources offers courses, workshops, webinars and more to support your development as an English-language teacher, and to equip you with the skills to prepare your students for the TOEFL iBT test and the university classroom.

Teaching Academic English with the TOEFL iBT Test

This multi-week online course helps you improve your skills and build curricula for teaching academic English. It gives you high-quality, practical content, emphasizing task-based language teaching (TBLT) and English for academic purposes (EAP).

The course combines the best of both theory and practice, including examples of how these concepts can be applied to designing English-language learning lessons and tasks to support students’ development of EAP in relation to the TOEFL iBT test. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how to apply best practices in language teaching and receive materials that you can adapt for your own classroom.

Choose the Independent Study option to learn at your own pace, or Interactive Study for a more structured experience. The next Interactive Study cohort will begin in May 2024, with enrollment open now.

For detailed course information and pricing, and to enroll in Independent Study or an upcoming Interactive Study cohort, email TOEFLELT@ets.org.
