  • provides means, medians, standard deviations, quartiles and confidence limits for the total scaled score as well as for both skills and context area scaled scores
  • can be based on a cohort or combination of cohorts and filtered by class level (freshmen, sophomore, etc.)

Roster of Scaled Scores

  • provides a roster of scaled score information for all students
  • can be based on a cohort or combination of cohorts and filtered by class level (freshman, sophomore, etc.)

Demographic Analysis Report1

  • provides means and standard deviations for the total scaled score as well as for both skills and context area scaled scores for groups of students based on their responses to demographic information questions
  • report can be based on a cohort or combination of cohorts

Note about the Abbreviated form: This report provides data at a subgroup level. A minimum of 10 students is required to display data for a subgroup.

Item Information Report

  • provides a question-by-question analysis of your students’ performance on the test including a comparison to the larger reference group

  • can be used for curriculum improvement, accreditation purposes and continuous improvement initiatives

A minimum of 50 students who have taken the same version of the ETS Proficiency Profile is required to run this report. The institution can meet this minimum through a single cohort or a combination of cohorts.

Custom Comparative Data Report

  • compare your program to a self-selected reference group of 10 or more other institutions of your choosing from among the hundreds of institutions assessing their students with the ETS Proficiency Profile
  • use the reports for internal and external benchmarking

Design Your Own Analysis

  • allows you to extract a data file that can be used to customize your analyses to meet your reporting needs
  • includes all demographic1 data collected as well as the total scaled score, subscore and proficiency classification data for each student
  • can be used to compare performance on the ETS Proficiency Profile to student characteristics or other direct or indirect measures

Note about the Abbreviated form: Certain data points available through this report are not statistically reliable at the individual student level. The data provided by this report is appropriate for group-level analyses only and should not be used to make high-stakes decisions about individual students.

1 Demographic reports are provided for subgroups based on the following characteristics: completed credit hours, transfer status, GPA, percent of general education/core curriculum completed, communication language, enrollment status, type of program, age, major, number of courses (core and elective) taken in Humanities, Social Science, Natural Science and Mathematics, ethnicity, gender and hours working.

The following reports are available to institutions that administer the ETS Proficiency Profile with an optional essay.

Roster of Essay Scores

  • can be based on a cohort or combination of cohorts

Comparative data lets you evaluate the scores and proficiency classifications of your students relative to those of a large group of students at other institutions and get the benchmarking results you need.

Updated annually, comparative data reports are available for:

  • proctored and nonproctored versions of the test
  • optional essay (PDF) — because of the limited number of students taking the optional essay, these comparative data tables cannot be parsed into separate reporting groups by institution type or class level

Comparative data reports are available through Program Workshop. To access the reports, log in to your Program Workshop account and navigate to the Reports folder. Select "Annual Comparative Data Guide" and choose the options for the report you would like to run.
